FAQS

Why grind out the stump?

It is often not possible to remove a stump by hand and an excavator will be required. Digging out stumps with an excavator is difficult and makes a lot of mess. If you do dig a stump out there will be hole you have to fill once removed and they you will have to find a way to get rid of the stump which is often expensive.

What is stump grinding?

We use modern stump grinding machinery which have tungsten teeth and these turn stumps into fine wood chip.

What about the roots?

Often there is no need to grind the roots, however we can remove these if necessary for example if foundations are being dug or there are surface roots which are a trip hazard or risk damaging your lawn mower.

What access is required?

We have a range of machines from those that will fit through a narrow garden gate or front door, to large machines that weigh close to 3 tons and are nearly 2 meters wide.

Is it cheaper to hire a machine and do it myself?

We often beat the price of hiring one yourself. However if you are thinking about doing it yourself you must consider the danger of these machines and also to remove stumps there is a lot of other equipment you would need: ramps, grinding guards, chainsaws, leaf blowers, trailer to collect the machine, fuel and teeth which are easy to blunt. Hiring a professional is often cheaper than doing it yourself and its very difficult if you’ve never done it before!

What else do you offer?

We have a range of equipment and can offer site clearance, operated plant hire and commercial grass cutting services.
